The South Carolina HIV Task Force (SCHTF) is the only state-wide organization whose principal goal is to advocate for the preservation, expansion and strengthening of HIV prevention, care, treatment, support and education services in South Carolina. SCHTF has aligned its framework to address the advancement of civil and human rights for people impacted by HIV in South Carolina. SCHTF is increasing and strengthening the network of allied groups that participate in local and state advocacy for HIV impacted communities throughout South Carolina. SCHTF also advocates for funding of the South Carolina AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP); ensuring people living with HIV who are uninsured or underinsured have viable options for Health Insurance coverage; and endorsing Medicaid expansion where possible ensuring that South Carolina leadership see the faces and hear the voices of people impacted by HIV.

Key Activities

  • Train and provide resources for people living with HIV/AIDS to increase their advocacy skills
  • Host a State Capital Day to provide educational briefings for South Carolina legislators
  • Recruit newly identified allied advocacy partners and organizations to strengthen the coalition in South Carolina

We are committed to improving the response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in our state, but these efforts can’t be possible without our amazing sponsors and donors and trust us to continue to advocate for those living with HIV/AIDS as well as educate the public on this epidemic. Thank you for your continued support!
